| Software Technology
Parks of India (STPI), set up in 1991, is an autonomous organization
under the aegis of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology,
Government of India, New Delhi. The very existence of STPI is to
promote 100% export of Software and IT services and it ensures conducive
environment and infrastructure facilities to 100% export-oriented
units in software development and services in order to boost the
Software and IT service exports from India.
Since inception Software Technology Parks of India has set up
quite a number of STPI Centers in the form of its nodal offices
in various states/zones/cities/parts of India. Presently there
are more than forty such STP centers operating all over the country.
These nodal offices are administered by the Directors of the respective
centers.
Software Technology Park (STP), Kolkata is a nodal wing set up
and administered by West Bengal Electronics Industry Development
Corporation Limited (WEBEL) under the powers delegated by STPI,
MCIT, Government of India, New Delhi for implementing the scheme
in the State of West Bengal.

THE
STP SCHEME |
The Software Technology
Park Scheme (STP Scheme) is a 100% Export Oriented Scheme for
facilitating development and export of computer software and IT
enabled services using Data Communication links. Such exports
may also be made in physical form and may include export of professional
services as well. The STP scheme offers certain facilities and
benefits to its member units and requires its registered units
to fulfill the minimum export obligation as per the provisions
of the EXIM Policy.
A Software Technology Park (STP) may be set up by the Central
Government, State Government, Public or Private Sector undertakings
or any combination thereof.
An STP may be an individual unit by itself or it may be one of
such units located in an area designated as STP Complex by the
Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
Provision is also there for an entrepreneur to set up facility
as Infrastructure Provider for STP units under the scheme.

nodal office of STP-Kolkata is situated in Module Nos. 517
& 518 of the 4th Floor of SDF Building. In the first
phase WEBEL offered 60,000 sq. ft. of built-up space (48
modules) to the member units to start with.
